How does virtual counseling work?


Research indicates online counseling is as effective as in-person counseling and essentially works the same way. We will use a secure video platform to connect with each other from the comfort of your own home or wherever else you may be.

  1. Schedule a free 15 minute initial consultation. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other to see if we are a good fit.
  2. Once the appointment is confirmed, you will receive an email with a link to your client portal. There you will fill out paperwork before our session.
  3. Follow the link to my virtual office at our scheduled session time.




How often will we meet?


At the beginning, I encourage us to meet as often as possible to help build our relationship and get to know each other more quickly. This often looks like once a week for most clients. The ultimate goal however, is to eventually develop skills and awareness to use on your own without my support. We will work together to adjust frequency as progress is made.




How much does it cost?


Initial phone or video consultation (15 mins) is free! Individual therapy session (45 minutes) is $120.00 Extended session (90 minutes) is $230.00 Payments are made through the client portal by credit or debit card only. Payments are charged on the day of the session, prior to the start of the session. Visit the Services and Fees page for inofmation about packages.




What about insurance?


I currently do not accept insurance. However, if your insurance plan provides out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement for my services. Upon request I can provide a billing statement or "superbill" for you to submit to insurance for reimbursement.




What if I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment?


If you cancel with less than 24 hours before your appointment I will charge the full amount for the session. However, if we can find another time that works for us both before the end of the week we can reschedule with no extra fee. Rescheduling and canceling appointments for exisiting clients can be done through the client portal.




What are your credentials?


I have a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Studies and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. Along with education in the field of psychology and mental health, I have experience working as a mental health professional in various outpatient settings with individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, trauma and other mental illnesses. I have worked both alongside other mental health professionals and under direct supervision. Although I’ve completed my formal education, I truly believe learning is infinite. Part of my passion for this work lies in continuing to expand my knowledge and I do this through reading, completing trainings, consulting with other professionals, and putting into practice the skills I teach in my own life for personal growth.




Can I do the initial consultation by phone?


Yes! Just submit an inquiry in the contact form to request a phone consultation. I will get back to you within 24 hours via email to set up a time.
